BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is a calculation of weight to height ratio. However, it is based on average body size and does not take into account variations for significant muscle development or for people with particularly small frames. Because BMI is calculated using weight and height only, you cannot use it to determine how much body fat you have or how much muscle you have. It is really only a useful as a guide in terms of healthy weight to height ratio.
